Brainstorming -- 9/10/14

1. Music Video

Control  --  watching life

A man discovers that he can control his world with a remote control. He can pause/play actions, change his location/meal/car with the channel changer, and mute annoying sounds/people. Just like TV, he is unable to communicate with the world around him--even if he shouts. As he grows increasingly lonely, he briefly wonders what pushing the power button would do. in the last frame of the video, as he begins to touch the power button, everyone looks at him for the first time.

2. Documentary

Greenbush Brewery  --  a Michigan success story

Motivated by recent unemployment and inspired by a cheap brew kit he received as a gift, Scott Sullivan launched what is now Greenbush Brewing Company, one of the most popular brewers in the Midwest. Sullivan, with no formal brewing experience, taught himself his own eclectic style of brewing beer, all fueled with the Greenbush slogan in mind: good beer wins. Greenbush Brewery has transformed the small, dwindling town of Sawyer, Michigan into a hot spot for beer lovers and a success story for the state of Michigan.

3. Narrative

The Blue Line   --   being strangers together

The narrative follows the lives of four random strangers and documents all the steps leading up to when they come together on public transit. The piece works with the separate story-lines of each person: the emotions, thoughts, and problems of each individual. Each character develops with limited dialogue. The piece ends with the four individuals sitting together on the bus, all going different places for different reasons, never knowing the significance of those sitting next to them and never to see each other again.
